GLP-1 Medications

Myfastweightloss currently supports and utilizes GLP-1 agonists semaglutide and tirzepatide.

What is Semaglutide?

SEMAGLUTIDE (SEM a GLOO tide) promotes weight loss.

Semaglutide is an antidiabetic medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and an anti-obesity medication used for long-term weight management. A once-a-week regimen was trialed in a 12-week study by Novo Nordisk in 2012, and it was approved for use in the US in 2017 for use by people with diabetes. Semaglutide was later approved in 2021 to be used specifically for weight loss.

Our most popular program, semaglutide injections works by increasing insulin levels in your body, which decreases your blood sugar (glucose).

Semaglutide is a medicine used for weight loss in specific patients, and to lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke in type two diabetes patients. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist and works by increasing insulin release, lowering the amount of glucagon released, delaying gastric emptying and reducing appetite. Changes to diet and exercise are often combined with this medication. Study participants utilizing semaglutide have shown a mean clinical weight reduction of 15.8%.

Currently semaglutide is FDA approved under branded names Ozempic and Wegovy but is in short supply. Federal regulations allow 503A compounding facilities to use active pharmaceutical ingredients to make compounded versions of drugs that are in FDA-recognized shortage for patient-specific prescriptions. However not all compounded semaglutide is the same.

Myfastweightloss does not use or endorse  salt-based compounded semaglutide products. The salt forms are different active ingredients than is used in the approved drugs, which contain the base form of semaglutide. Our team works only with FDA inspected pharmacies that utilize the base form of semaglutide to ensure you are receiving quality medication to support your weight loss journey.

What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide, sold under the brand names Mounjaro and Zepbound, is an antidiabetic medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and for weight loss. Tirzepatide is administered through subcutaneous injection.

Tirzepatide activates receptors of hormones secreted from the intestine (glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)) to reduce appetite and food intake. This medication is incredibly effectiveness for chronic weight management (weight reduction and maintenance) in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Study findings have shown after 36 weeks adults utilizing tirzepatide experienced a mean weight reduction of 20.9%

Branded tirzepatide is currently in shortage allowing 503A compounding facilities to use active pharmaceutical ingredients to make compounded versions of this drug.

Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide – Which one?

Semaglutide = GLP-1, single GLP-1 receptor agonist

Tirzepatide = GLP-1 + GIP, two gastrointestinal incretin hormones, exert complementary actions.

Some recent studies have compared semaglutide and tirzepatide for weight loss. A 2023 study found that tirzepatide resulted in greater weight loss than semaglutide. Although it costs more, researchers concluded that tirzepatide is more effective and a better value. However higher doses of tirzepatide may increase gastrointestinal adverse events and should be discussed with your health care provider.
